The Roman God of Love, The Son of Venus, The Matchmaker, The Lonely-Hearts Expert etc. are just some names Cupid, the god of love is known by. But terrorist is not one of them. One evening, in a forested park, little cupid is busy at work. With the full moon in the sky, and fine mist drifting in the air, empty hearts come out in search for love. This is what cupid likes best. His arrows seek hearts to strike. Not every heart gets the golden point. Some have to settle for lead, and with it, heartbreak. Cupid is thus indicted of being a terrorist.
‘Cupid is not a terrorist’ is an animated short by Director Bellopropello. Bellopropello creates an animated world where cupid plays riot with his arrows in the romantic moonlight, striking unsuspecting hearts and flushing them with love. It is not always that his arrows strike the ideal target at the right time. Even he gets to deal with the demands of modern technology while plying his trade. Bellopropello uses simple but impactful imagery where the serpentine branches of the trees in the garden create an ornamental template for Cupid’s romantic world. But this world is not without its vagaries that makes Cupid guilty of being a terrorist.
For all the joys and sorrow that cupid brings into the world, for all the hearts that he has joined and for all the heartbreaks he has caused, Cupid has been called many names, but terrorist is not one of them.
