In the future, in a world bare of emotions, experts are on the lookout for any traces that might have continued undiscovered in the wild. One team of investigators on a reconnaissance mission in the woods detect some unusual activity near them. As the team approach the object of suspicion, they learn that it is contagious. Human emotions are infectious and this is scary for a world washed clear of them. As the team comes face to face with the person in the woods triggering their scanners to go wild, the investigators realize they have to leave the area soon to avoid being infected. But is it that simple to run from human emotions?

‘For the time we will be human’ is a narrative short film by Director Helena Guerra. Helena creates an episode from the future when humans have forgotten to smile. She places her characters in a world where it is dangerous to have emotions running free in the wild. A team of investigators scour the country for any vestiges that might have continued undetected and could risk re-infecting the population all over again. But living in a sterile world, they are unaware how contagious emotions are. Helena creates her futuristic world in the woods using minimal props and sets. The minimalistic use of voice overs and clean visuals that go above the confines of locking the visuals to a certain time period, Helena creates this futuristic world elegantly, believably and effortlessly.

‘For a time, we will be human’ is a story of human emotions. It makes one realize how important emotions are to us and how easily we infect those around us with our emotions. It is difficult to trace back to where our emotions come from, but it travels from person to person, creating a common platform for communicating one’s feelings. This is where joy and happiness take over.
