Riley lives with her friends and attends school in Sweden. When her friend Vanessa who has a problem with alcohol does not listen to her to avoid a party and ends up with a very bad hang-over she is upset that no one listens to her. Meanwhile, her sister Skye is grappling with relationship problems of her own. Skye feels that her boyfriend is spending much less time with her and she feels lonely. When Skye finds her boyfriend flirting with another woman feeling cheated. Meanwhile, Riley visits her therapist to help her deal with her anxiety. She also speaks to her grandmother and gets some effective relationship advice. Do her efforts bear fruit? What happens to Skye’s relationships?

‘Roses are just roses’ is a narrative feature from Director Richard Liam Tiger. Richard tells the story of two sisters, their friends, their relationship and of those who help them in their times of need. It explores the situation of young men and women dealing with anxiety, depression and the need for acceptance in a modern world where the meanings of relationships are often confusing. The film depicts how no one is immune to the vagaries of the mind and everyone needs help dealing with their situations. It stresses the importance of the support system that helps make sense of the world with their experiences.

‘Roses are just roses’ ends with the observation that life goes on and it is better to make your own choices and stand by it. If you learn to appreciate what life has to offer you can make the best of a difficult situation.
