Mallory, a young woman, attends an auction and is attracted towards one item listed there. When she bids for the piece, she learns that there are many others interested in the same item. She keeps raising her bids till she wins and takes home the mystery bag. On opening the package at home, she discovers a set of antique, leather-bound books. One book in particular catches her eye, with a single page of written content in an archaic language. She takes the book to an expert in ancient languages to decipher the contents. The expert goes through the written page and notices something strange and sinister about the book. He gives her a translation of the contents and a warming. Later he leaves a voice message asking Mallory to never show the book to anyone. But, before Mallory listens to the message, she and a friend decide to have some harmless fun with the book travelling down the forbidden path. What evil does she unleash by her deed?

‘The Discernment: The Book of Evil’ is a feature length film by Director Magician Dewayne Hill. Dewayne tells a story steeped in mystery and mystique, involving demons, angels and dark supernatural forces. He also plays Priest Jacob, a priest gifted with the skill of exorcism and an expert in casting out demons. When entrusted with resolving the case of the dark book wreaking havoc in the world, Priest Jacob takes up the challenge. Dewayne tells this supernatural tale with the help of some clever visual imagery, creating drama with creative use of camera angles and lighting. This, coupled with powerful performances from the artists, eliminates the use of flashy graphics otherwise considered indispensable for a film in this category.

‘The Discernment’ looks at the unsolved mysteries that surround us. Some defy logic and have no scientific explanation to convince the agnostics, but there is also a dedicated set of believers who work to undertake anything that rises from the depths of the unknown.
